So, I've been neglecting my poor etsy store for a while. (Come to think of it, ever since they updated their site layout.) But, today, it got a small update, and I'll start adding other things in the future. I'm hoping that I'll be able to offer jewelry again after the new year, but for right now, it is all sold out.

Originals for Sale

Anyway, I've added a couple of marker drawings (not prints) for sale: Control by Doodleholic and Crystal Visions by Doodleholic

Prints for Sale

And The Golden Wood by Doodleholic has been added to the available prints.

If there is something (other than the photomanipulations) in my gallery that you would like to see as a print, please let me know, and I'll make a listing for it! The pricing will be the same as my other prints.

Congratulations, akatsukihikari!

So, for the past week or so, my daily pageview count has abruptly jumped. (It was at 36500 total views just last week.) Since someone seems to be intent on cheating/pushing their way to catch the kiriban, I wanted to remind the rest of you guys that the kiriban is coming up at 42000. So, if you want a free, single character commission from me, keep on the lookout!

Rules:

The first person to note me with a screenshot of my profile page at 42000 pageviews will receive a free, simple, waist-up/bust, single character marker commission.
The finished commission will be delivered digitally. The winner may request the original marker art, but the winner will have to pay for it to be shipped.  ($5.00 US domestic; $11 International)
In the event that 42000 is missed, the first person with a screenshot over-but-closest-to 42000 will receive the commission.

Examples (Like these but no leggies probably.): Wolverine by Doodleholic Artsy by Doodleholic Spellbound by Doodleholic

Now let's get to what I will and will not do for this particular project:

Will do's:
  • Fan art
  • OC's
  • Male or female
  • Facial hair
  • Minor zoomorphism (e.g. cat ears)
  • Simple circle background

Will not do's:

  • Realism
  • Gifs
  • Photomanipulation
  • Porn or distastefully suggestive
  • Gore
  • Mecha
  • Anthropomorphism/Major Zoomorphism
  • Chibi and/or children in general
  • Physically old/wrinkled characters
  • Complicated backgrounds
  • Anything complicated in general

One Final Aside:

I've had this kiriban set since 2008. It was supposed to be a fun little milestone, not someone taking advantage of a proxy-page refresher. I really don't want the prize to go to whoever is artificially inflating my view count. And unless whoever's inflating the view count stops, I'll hit 42000 some time in the next week. I expected some sort of jump in pageviews after 40000 or so, but not so far before. Therefore: *If I find that the winner has cheated in any way (e.g. fake screenshots, proxy-generated pageviews, etc.) an alternate winner will be chosen.*

AO3 (Has most of my fanfiction, minus drabble collections and shorter one shots.)

Gaia. But really, I just like to dress my avatar.

My original username on this account was: SpikeUchuKauboi. My typical usernames are Kayka, Doodleholic, or Kayka of the North.

I am not on Facebook at all, and though I'm technically on Twitter, it's not an account I use in any capacity.
I am on Instagram, but I don't tag anything or use it the way one is supposed to (it's mostly WIP pics you'll find on my Tumblr and pictures of my doggie).

My Art IS NOT Stock
Yes, most of it is fanart, but it is still my art. This means don't alter, edit, use it in manipulations, reupload, repost, use it for 'story covers/banners', or otherwise claim it as your own.

That being said, if it for some reason inspires you to write fanfiction, you have my permission. This has actually come up more than once. O_o; I'd like to see what you come up with, so please send me a link! And in this case, you may use the associated piece as the 'cover' for your fic, unless the art was created for a specific story. (This is the case for several drawings pertaining to Of Nowhere and Neverwhen and some of my fanart for other authors' fics. If one of those catches your eye, ask me first before using it.)

Basically, if in doubt, please ask first.

Current Obsessions (i.e. expect art):
Labyrinth
Various Marvel things: Mostly Avengers and X-Men and Loki (He gets his own stupid category because I've drawn him so often)

Not Current Obsessions (but possible victims of my need to create art):
BBC Sherlock
Doctor Who
Inuyasha
Game of Thrones/ASoIaF
Naruto
Any and all things Tolkien
Buffy/Angel (Spike, really)
Neverwhere
Harry Potter
Random Pretty Celebrities
Nostalgic Movies and Shows from my childhood
Fairytales
Animals/Fantasy Creatures/Dinosaurs
Half-developed OC's of my own imagining

If you're curious about shippy art/writing possibilities
I DON'T do Commissions/Trades/Requests/etc. AT ALL for AnyoneI am not an artist by profession, and my drawing/painting/writing muse is a persnickety creature. I enjoy sharing my art, but all art you see from me is a form of stress relief or random doodles that somehow made it to a coloring stage.

While I have gotten somewhat more confident in my ability to be consistent with my art, I currently do not accept commissions, trades, requests, etc. (I do, however, plan on offering one free commission for my 42000 page view kiriban. Look further down for details.)

About Me
I have a master's degree in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience, and a BA in Biology with minors in Neuroscience and Studio Art. Science and art are my two great  passions in life. Reading is probably the third. I also enjoy torturing myself by (trying to) writ(e)ing fanfiction, even though I write more slowly than a seahorse swims.

I'm kind of really a lot introverted, and I don't typically say anything unless I have something important to say. I rarely initiate conversations, and I 'm always afraid that I come across as standoffish. Please don't take offense.

I'm female.

I'm an incorrigible procrastinator. I procrastinate doing things I want to do. We shan't even speak of those I don't.

Art for me is a hobby. I do a lot of fan art.  I tend to go through cyclical periods of interest in various fandoms. Basically, what I'm saying is: even I don't know what I'm going to draw next. Or the medium I will be using. Fanservice does tend to happen with male characters, though. Shrug

I like constructive criticism and will take it into consideration for future projects. I don't go back and change a finished piece, however. Non-constructive "critiques" will be summarily ignored, probably with an eye-roll and a snarky comment that I'll keep to myself.  Also, I prefer any sort of critique to occur on recent work. The older a piece is, the more I can see what is wrong with it without outside help. Oftentimes, looking at my art that's more than a year old makes me cringe. Actually looking at most of my finished art makes me cringe because I notice problems as soon as I finish.

Kiriban InfoUpdate: I've noticed that my pageview count has abruptly been pushing 500 views per day for the past few days for no apparent reason. Being this close to the 42,000 mark, it naturally looks a bit like someone is trying to cheat their way to the kiriban. I'd really like to get to the 42k with genuine views. Therefore: *IF I SUSPECT THAT THE WINNER HAS BEEN ARTIFICIALLY INFLATING PAGEVIEWS IN ORDER TO SNAG THE KIRIBAN, THE 'WINNER' WILL NOT BE REWARDED WITH THE KIRIBAN PRIZE and I will come up with some sort of alternative method of selecting a winner.*

The first person to note me with a screenshot of my profile page at 42000 pageviews will receive a free, simple, waist-up, single character marker commission.  (In the event that 42000 is missed, the first person with a screenshot over-but-closest-to 42000 will receive the commission.)

Llamas
Llama...an important part of life
I like llamas. Chances are, you like llamas, too. So, I give llamas as a token of gratitude for fav's and watches. You don't have to thank me (It can be hard for me to keep up with messages, especially 'thank you's' and 'you're welcomes'. But a llama back is always appreciated.). c: I apologize if you do not like llamas. But really. Who doesn't like llamas.

That's about it. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Just thought I'd update as an actual journal entry rather than reusing the same old one from two years ago. Keeping the HHGttG skin, though. Because it's awesome.

I don't do commissions, trades, etc., because the very idea gives me horrible anxiety. I work very slowly in my pockets of free time, and I think art should be stress free; having to live up to someone's expectations with a deadline on something I might not necessarily want to do is the opposite of why I personally create art.
